Welcome/Willkommen!

Hello and welcome. Hope you enjoy the images I have posted. Please do not reproduce them without my permission. Most are available as note/greeting cards or as prints/enlargements. Thank you for visiting my site and your comments.
Many have asked about the Header image above, which I named 'Eerie Genny'. It was originally shot with film [taken on the shore of the Genesee River near the Univ. of Rochester]. During the darkroom development, I flashed a light above the tray. The process, known as 'solarization', produces eerie, ghostlike effects; some have mistaken this image as an infra-red photo. Some 35+ years later, I scanned and digitized the print, and did a little modern day editing, and, voila.

World Trade Center 2 [Sky Watch Friday]

These images were shot in the vicinity of the World Trade Center. This area is a fantastic place for a visit. However, I chose not to go into the museum as I did not want to deal with the tragedy again.    You'll notice that today’s images are in the ‘landscape’ format. Not unexpectedly, the majority of my shots were actually in ‘portrait’ format because of the height of the building. Still, I like these images, even though they truncate the WTC, mainly because they allow greater leeway for composition, leading to perspectives you don’t often see.

World Cup Fever 2 [Orange You Glad It's Friday]

World Cup 2014 continues apace, and the remaining field of 16 has been decided. For OYGIF, there has been much to see/shoot, as several teams and their fans have provided much action and color on the TV screen. As with last week's posting, the images below were made using playback and shooting.

World Trade Center 1 [Sky Watch Friday]

After a long absence from NYC, my wife and I finally got to pay another visit. Whereas we often tried to take a ride on the ferry between Manhattan and Staten Island, this time the Hoboken Ferry to Wall Street was on our agenda. The views were spectacular, aided by Mother Nature's cooperation. Of course, the new World Trade Center dominated the skyline, as evidenced in the images below. And, the venerable Brooklyn Bridge is always a welcome sight for this old Brooklyn boy.

World Cup Fever [Orange You Glad It's Friday]

World Cup fever has gripped most of the world including enlightened elements in the USA. So, I am departing from my original planned posting to bring to you images from said tournament. Not being there posed something of a handicap -- but TV and a recording device allowed me to get some good shots during playback. All but the top image came from the Holland vs. Australia match. I hope you like them.

Rochester Public Market [Orange You Glad It's Friday]

We are finally back from vacation and recovered from jet lag. I think I have enough new pictures that, combined with my current reservoir, I’ll have enough images to post for several years on OYGIF.  That is because orange seems to be a very popular color in northern Germany [specifically, Braunschweig and Berlin]. Since I had today’s posting ready to go just before I left,  I’ll use it.
Public markets are among my favorite places to visit. They always offer interesting photo ops, food to consume, as well as objects and people to see/photograph. Here are some images from Rochester’s market, which had slipped through my screening for prior posting.
